CPI for all items increased 0.4% in October 2022 from last month

• Consumer Price Index for all items increased 0.4 % in October 2022 from last month on a seasonally adjusted basis.
• All items less food and energy index, or Core CPI, increased 0.3 % .
• Food index increased 0.6 %, and energy index increased 1.8 % .

CPI for all items increased 7.7% in October 2022 from last 12 months

• Consumer Price Index for all items increased 7.7 % in October 2022 from last 12 months on a seasonally unadjusted basis.
• All items less food and energy index, or Core CPI, increased 6.3 % .
• Food index increased 10.9 % , and energy index increased 17.6 % .

Fuel oil was the biggest and utility gas service was the smallest contributor

• Fuel oil was the biggest contributor, with its index increasing by 19.8 % from last month and increasing by 68.5 % from last 12 months.
• Utility (piped) gas service was the smallest contributor, with its index decreasing by -4.6 % from last month and increasing by 20.0 % from last 12 months.
